RaveHD is a young product that is growing rapidly. Within a few short years this product that could only perform a few key functions has grown into a very complex group of modules that are being used in a variety of ways.

RaveHD is traditionally priced at 1/2 to 1/4 of the cost of competing products and we are asked regularly how we can do this. Here are a few key reasons.

• Every aspect of RaveHD, including the RS422 library that traditionally licenses for thousands was written in-house.

• Developing on a single platform is another key factor. With the amount of studios going Linux is does not make sense to port a product(the server side)like RaveHD to other platforms. Linux provides the stability and open architecture that is needed for a product of this type and with the amount of tools available studios can easily open the RaveHD GUI up on Windows and Mac clients.

• Putting RaveHD on commodity PC hardware still makes more sense than proprietary hardware.

• The Linux platform is another huge factor in-itself. Linux is a free OS with many free and open tools. Rather than us developing tools that already exist we simply educate our customers on what's out there and how to tie them into RaveHD. Because of the open nature of the platform if needed we can correct issues with outside tools to insure that they do not conflict with RaveHD.

• SpectSoft is in the software business and although we sell turnkey solutions profit margins on our commodity hardware solutions are kept to the minimum. In fact the reason we sell turnkey solutions is because the hardware and software must work side by side without conflicts. Many other systems on the market are relying on third party vendors to tie things together whereas SpectSoft works closley with hardware vendors to insure we are getting the most we can from their products.

• Our development team not only consists of us here at SpectSoft but every studio that is a customer. We have some of the industries brightest minds who are contributing to features and changes to RaveHD.
