RaveHD offers extended support for Davinci, Quantel, Avid and Discreet products

(Oakdale, California -- June, 2006) SpectSoft LLC., a leading provider of uncompressed video solutions on the Linux platform, today announced RaveHD is now shipping supporting extended RS422 controls for both master and slave mode.

SpectSofts RaveHD 2.0, which made it's debut at NAB in April has made additions to it's RS422 library to offer extended support for Davinci, Quantel, Avid, FCP and Discreet products, allowing studios to use RaveHD as a viable VTR replacement. "RaveHD can be utilized in many aspects of the workflow but the focus this past year as been total VTR emulation and although difficult, not impossible as can be seen with our latest release", states Ramona Howard, President of SpectSoft. “The feature set we have built into RaveHD is unlike any other software package on the market today and it just keeps getting better with the development help we see from our customers.”

Utilizing commodity hardware, RaveHD systems prices start at $19,995 and support from 3TB to 18TB of local storage in a SATA array configuration and offers one of the highest quality video solutions on the market today, addressing many concerns seen by other systems. RaveHD supports uncompressed SD-SMPTE 259M, HD-SMPTE 292M, Dual Link HD(4:4:4)- SMPTE 372M and 2K HSDL for both capture and playback in a single system as well as hardware accelerated upconverting, downconverting and cross-converting. The RaveHD systems feature integrated RS-422 hardware that allows for both slave and master control, LTC support and unlimited scalability with dual 10/100/1000 gigabit Ethernet in addition to features like frame oriented, standard file system storage and centralized database asset tracking, RP188 (embedded timecode), Varicam flagging support, Conform, and a programmable cadence engine. RaveHD is natively frame-based but does offer some built-in tools for those working with Quicktimes and will soon offer native QT support.

"Working with studios one on one has allowed us to grow this product into a solid, extensible, open solution", comments Jason Howard, Lead Programmer for SpectSoft. "Continued improvements to our RS422 library will now allow any system to connect right up to RaveHD without having to define us as a specific deck. Only one of the added improvements made recently", adds Howard.

RaveHD is in use by studios worldwide and has played an integral role in the making of films such as Starship Troopers 2, Sin City, Ice Age 2 along with many others. RaveHD is designed to compliment the workflow not compete with and is the only product of it's kind to supply it's entire source code to it's clients for integration.
