CES 2008 Comcast Keynote
RaveHD was used for the playback device for some of the graphics at the 2008 Keynote at CES.
Original uncompressed images of 3600x1080 were split into 2 uncompressed 1920x1080 image sequences and the RaveHD stereo unit provided a sync'd playback of the 2 1920x1080 uncompressed image streams, including audio. The other images were displayed on a compressed unit that took the entire 3600x1080 image and compressed it down to a 1920x1080 sequence. Because RaveHD was developed for a studio environment it provided the ability to edit the image sequences up to the very last minute, whereas compressed and tape devices have limitations.

RaveHD Delivers Stunning Graphics for CES Keynote
For the same rental price of a single SR, RaveHD provided a full uncompressed, stereo solution that fit perfectly into this environment.
(Oakdale, California -- January, 2008) SpectSoft LLC., a leading provider of uncompressed video solutions takes a step into the rental market.
"Providing an uncompressed stereo solution for playback at this year's CES show in Vegas was an easy step for the system", comments Ramona Howard, CEO of SpectSoft". "Uncompressed is uncompressed, regardless of what the venue is".
"Large venues such as the CES keynotes demand the most out of the graphics being shown and it was very apparent which ones were displaying uncompressed. The choice to go with a stereo RaveHD system cost about the same as a single SR rental and delivered a truly uncompressed image to the screen", adds Howard. "Doesn't get any better than that".
RaveHD systems offer the flexibility that linear systems such as decks and compressed devices do not. The ability to edit, trim, combine, record, rename and re-position clips makes it a smart choice for these type of venues, where editing can happen up to the last minute and often does. Add the ability to grab any frame and to apply a dissolve or wipe with DiceHD and tie that to a JL Cooper Control surface and RaveHD is right at home.
"With the new tools built into RaveHD and DiceHD we fit right into the requirements of behind the scenes (production) rather easily", comments Jason Howard, Lead RaveHD Developer. "CES 2008 marked the first official rental of the RaveHD and DiceHD units. With RaveHD designed to be so flexible and can be used in any number of workflows we look for the rental of RaveHD systems to be very popular", comments Howard.
RaveHD, made its debut in 2001 at Tippett Studios and then has since been adopted by many high-end VFX and Post facilities worldwide and with many adding additional RaveHD systems to the pipelines over the years. Information on the Spectsoft products can be found at www.spectsoft.com
